Integers are whole numbers that can be positive (like 1, 2, 3...) or negative (like -1, -2, -3...). Zero (0) is also an integer. On a number line:
- Positive integers are to the right of zero
- Negative integers are to the left of zero
- Each integer is exactly one unit away from its neighbors
